Design Systems

Bringing visual & UX cohesion to users and bridging hand-off to developers

As a software engineer, I built design system components in Vue.js, including reusable, responsive layouts for the My Account customer portal.

As a senior product designer, I co-led a design system overhaul, with outcomes including:

  • Assisting in team interviews, leading to the hiring of a new designer with strong design systems experience

  • Delivering a Figma component library consisting of tokens, variants, layouts, icons, typography, and other reusable patterns

  • Collaborating closely with engineers to assess technical feasibility, review design implementation, and maintain user documentation

  • Providing accessibility guidance on new design system components and advocating for customer inclusivity in brand updates

Our small design system team faced a number of challenges, from changing Figma guidelines to rapid Product growth outpacing our capacity. I learned to be flexible, collaborate early and often, and be willing to pivot, not holding my ideas too dearly. Together we supported several major product upgrades and continuous front-end development.
